Lagonisi beach is a little gem in Sithonia if you are looking for a quiet beach with calm waters for swimming and great view. There is an island about a kilometer off shore that protects this wonderful beach. With only a few small family run apartment complexes here, this beach avoids the crowds. There is some organization with sun beds and parasols for a cover charge, but this amount can be used to purchase drinks. All in all Lagonisi is a great find. There are no restaurants here but Ormos Panagias is just a few kilometers away and there you can find everything from restaurants to mini markets and take one of the much sought after Athos cruises. The sand is fine and the water shallow.
Access to Lagonisi is quite simple. Heading south from Ormos Panagias, you pass the harbour on your left and after this there is a road heading to the promontory jutting into the sea. Follow the signs.
What’s great about Lagonisi Beach
No crowds, quiet and good for families. Great place to swim or take out the kayak. Close to Ormos Panagias as a base to depart on the Mt. Athos cruise.
And what’s not…
No night life if you are looking for action. No restaurants. Watch for sea urchins in the water.
